Plenty of offshore studios chasing Australian work show a virtual office in North Sydney and an 02 number that forwards overseas. We are in Islamabad. That is the trade you are evaluating, so here it is with the awkward parts left in.
You get your afternoon, not your morning
Pakistan is five hours behind Sydney in winter and six in summer. Our working day starts at 2pm in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — 3pm in Sydney and Melbourne once daylight saving begins, since Queensland does not change its clocks — so we overlap for two to three hours at the end of yours. Perth does better, with five. What that means in practice: you raise something in the morning, it is waiting when we arrive, and you have an answer or a staging link before you leave. If you need someone on a call at 9am, that is an arrangement to agree in writing, not a default.
A cheap quote is a different product
The rate difference is why offshore exists, and there is nothing wrong with wanting it. The mistake is treating the lowest quote as the same work for less. Below a certain point you are buying a developer nobody has met, no design, no testing and no handover — and those come back later as change requests priced in a currency you do not control. The honest saving is a smaller team of named people, not a smaller price on the same promise.
Your recourse is weaker, so the structure has to be stronger
Contracting with a Pakistani company means the Australian Consumer Law and a local tribunal are a long way from the problem, and nobody should pretend otherwise. What actually protects you is structural: scope written before money moves, payments staged against work you can open on a staging URL, and every account — repository, hosting, domain, payment gateway — in your company's name from week one, so you can walk away at any point and keep what you paid for.

What we have actually done in this market
Three Australian clients, and it is worth being exact about each, because the difference between what we have shipped and what we have merely worked on is the thing an offshore studio is most tempted to blur.
FleaMail sells vet-customised flea, tick and worm treatment to Australian pet owners as a monthly subscription, and ran on WordPress, WooCommerce and a stack of plugins. We rebuilt the whole business as one Next.js platform — storefront, plan builder, checkout, customer accounts, a fifty-screen admin, and an API for a new mobile app — and migrated every customer, pet, subscription and order into it, reconciled to the cent against the old store. It is built and running in a parallel shadow mode; switching over follows a written runbook, and it has not happened yet. We would rather say that than let a case study imply a launch.
We also run FleaMail's search. Over the last six months its average Google position moved from 37.7 to 10.6 and impressions rose 86.7% — though clicks grew only 4.9%, and the case study says why.
Australian Veterinary Wholesalers (avw.au) is a search, site maintenance and Google Ads client. Its average position went from 41.9 to 13.6 in six months and impressions rose 25.5%, while clicks fell 23% — we publish that figure alongside the others. What an Australian build has to get right
Being a web development company in Australia's market without being in Australia changes a handful of concrete things. Prices shown to consumers must include GST — the total, not a figure with tax added at checkout. In plenty of categories shoppers expect Afterpay or Zip beside the card form, and notice when it is missing. Delivery is quoted against Australia Post and the couriers, whose timings between the east coast, Perth and regional postcodes differ by days, and FleaMail showed that postcode can decide the product itself, not just the shipping. Privacy obligations follow the data, so a customer database belongs in a region you have chosen on purpose. None of it is exotic; all of it is invisible to a team that has never shipped here.
How it runs, day to day
There is one office, Second Floor, Office No 02, Above Minnie Minors, Main PWD Road, Islamabad, Pakistan 44000, on a verified Google Business Profile. There is no Australian entity, address or phone number, and none will appear here while that is true. You contract with the Pakistani company and we invoice in Australian dollars; how that sits with your GST position is a question for your accountant. A staging link exists from the first week and is the real status report. Updates land in your afternoon, calls happen in your afternoon, and anything urgent raised at 9am Sydney time is read at 2pm.
