Should you hire a Shopify agency London based, or one that is not?

We are in Islamabad, so we are the second option and we have an obvious interest. This page is the honest version of that comparison anyway — including the situations where hiring in the capital is clearly the right call.

The comparison, straight

Hire in the capital when these are true.

We would rather lose the enquiry than take a project that was always going to go badly. Three situations where a local agency is the better answer, and we mean it.

The work is genuinely collaborative and continuous

If your store changes weekly, your merchandising team wants to sit with a developer, and decisions get made in the room, hire someone who can be in the room. A half-day overlap is workable for defined projects and genuinely worse for continuous, conversational work. No fee difference compensates for a working relationship that is fighting the clock every afternoon.

You need somebody accountable in person

Some businesses — usually because of who they answer to — need a supplier they can escalate to face to face, or one their procurement process recognises as domestic. That is a real requirement rather than a preference, and no amount of contractual structure substitutes for it. If that describes you, the shortlist should be local and we would not waste your time on a call.

The project is small enough that coordination costs more than it saves

For a few days of theme work, the saving on rates is smaller than the overhead of briefing across a time zone. Hire a good freelancer near you. We will tell you this on the teardown call rather than after the deposit, because a small project run badly across five time zones damages our reputation more than the invoice is worth.

And when the offshore answer is the better one

How it runs

The teardown decides it.

01

Free store teardown

Written, inside 48 hours. What is slowing your store down and which apps to cancel — including a straight answer on whether to hire locally.

02

Scope and fixed price

Every template, every app decision, everything explicitly out. Priced in pounds before anything starts.

03

Build on a duplicate theme

Your live store keeps trading. You review a preview link in your morning, every morning.

04

Launch and hand over

Theme published, redirects mapped, and the store admin entirely yours — it always was.

Money

How store work is arranged.

Fixed-scope store work

A build, a rebuild or a defined piece of theme work. One written scope, one price in pounds, sent inside 48 hours of the teardown call.

  • App budget agreed up front
  • Redirects mapped on migration
  • Theme handed over

Fix what you have

Speed, checkout friction or a theme four people have edited. Scoped from the free teardown against a named list.

  • Named offenders, not a score
  • Measured before and after
  • No retainer required

Teardown only

Free, written, 48 hours, no obligation. Take it to a local agency and ask them to quote against it — that is a fair use of it.

  • No cost
  • No call required
  • Yours to keep

No figures on this site, in any currency — including any comparison of our rates against a capital agency's, which would be a number invented to flatter us. Get a written quote from both and compare those instead.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Do you have an office in London?
No, and there will not be one listed on this site while that is true. A serviced-office address used as a shopfront is trivially checkable and it is the fastest way for an agency to lose a buyer's trust permanently. We are in Islamabad, we work with British businesses, and we would rather say it on the page than have you find out on the call.
Are you a web development company London businesses can use for more than Shopify?
Yes — the published British work is mostly not Shopify at all. Two custom Laravel travel platforms with enquiry systems built in, a marketplace app on both stores, a field-service admin app, and a WooCommerce furniture store. If your project is a platform or an application rather than a shop, those pages are the relevant ones and the proof there is British.
How does the time difference actually work day to day?
We are five hours ahead in winter and four in summer, and our office runs nine to six. In practice that means we are reachable through your morning and go quiet in your early afternoon, calls are scheduled before lunch, and written updates plus a preview link are waiting when you start. For defined project work it is fine and occasionally an advantage. For continuous collaborative work it is a genuine drawback.
Can you visit if the project needs it?
Occasionally and it has to be planned and paid for rather than assumed, because visas and flights are not a formality. What we would say honestly is that if a project's success depends on being in a room, that is a signal to hire locally rather than a logistics problem to solve. Most store work does not.
What about VAT, delivery and the details British shoppers expect?
Prices displayed inclusive of VAT, delivery options including click-and-collect where you offer it, a returns window stated where shoppers look for it, and payment methods people here recognise. All of it is configuration and content rather than engineering, and all of it is agreed at scoping. It is a fair thing to test an offshore supplier on — ask us to describe your checkout before you hire us.
Why should we believe a page that spends half its length arguing against itself?
You should not believe a page. Use it to decide whether to spend twenty minutes getting the free teardown, then judge that document — it names specific problems on your specific store, which is much harder to fake than a page of claims. If it is generic, you have learned something at no cost and lost nothing.

Get the teardown, then decide where to hire.

Free, written, inside 48 hours, naming the specific apps and images slowing your store down — plus a straight answer on whether this project wants a local agency.
