A Shopify development agency UK merchants can check on, not just read about.

Theme work, custom sections and the checkout details that decide whether a sterling store converts. Three Shopify builds published — and none of them British yet, which we would rather tell you here than on the first call.

The honest bit, up front

We have not built a Shopify store for a British merchant yet.

That is the first thing you would find out if you asked, so it is the first thing on the page. Here is what we have done instead, and how to judge whether it transfers.

What is actually published

Three Shopify builds: Team Concept in the United States, and Elodie and Organic Origin in Pakistan — one of them live in two days, one carrying a 4.9-star rating. Real stores, real merchants, openable in a browser. What they are not is British, and a Shopify ecommerce agency UK retailers hire will usually have British references. If that is decisive for you, it should be, and you should hire on it.

What genuinely transfers, and what does not

Shopify is the same platform everywhere: Liquid, sections, the theme architecture, the app ecosystem and the checkout you are not allowed to touch below Plus. That knowledge moves across borders unchanged. What is market-specific is narrower than agencies imply — the payment methods shoppers expect, delivery and click-and-collect options, the returns window, and VAT display on prices. Those are configuration and content decisions, they are learnable in an afternoon, and we have shipped ecommerce into Britain already, just on WooCommerce rather than Shopify.

The theme you are about to buy will fight you

Most stores that reach us are a premium theme with eleven apps layered on it, each injecting script, and a homepage that takes nine seconds on a phone on a train. The apps are usually the problem and each one felt reasonable when it was installed. The fix is rarely a rebuild — it is removing four of them, replacing two with twenty lines in the theme, and deciding which of the remaining ones actually earns its monthly fee.

What we would actually do to your store

How it runs

Teardown first, always.

01

Store teardown

Free, written, inside 48 hours. What is slowing it down, which apps to cancel, and what we would fix first.

02

Scope and fixed price

Every template, every section, every app decision written down — and what is explicitly out.

03

Build on a duplicate theme

Your live store keeps selling. Work happens on a copy you can preview at any point.

04

Launch and hand over

Theme published, redirects mapped, and the store admin entirely in your name — it always was.

Money

How we quote store work.

New store, fixed scope

Theme, sections, product templates and launch. One written scope, one price in pounds, sent inside 48 hours of the teardown call.

  • App budget agreed up front
  • Redirects mapped on migration
  • Theme handed over

Fix what you have

Speed, checkout friction, or a theme that has been edited by four people. Scoped from the free teardown, priced as a fixed piece of work.

  • Named offenders, not a report
  • Before and after measured
  • No retainer required

Monthly store support

Ongoing sections, campaigns and maintenance for merchants who ship changes often. Monthly, cancellable with notice.

  • Cancel with notice
  • Same team each month
  • No lock-in

No figures on this site, in any currency. Store quotes depend on how much of your merchandising needs custom sections versus how much the theme already does, and that is only knowable after the teardown — which is free.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Why would I pick a Shopify development company UK merchants have not used yet?
Only for the reasons that survive scrutiny: more engineering time for the budget, a team that removes apps rather than adding them, and complete handover. If your decision turns on a British reference you can phone, we do not have one for Shopify specifically and will not pretend otherwise — we do have British ecommerce references on WooCommerce, and Shopify merchants in two other countries. Ask us for all of them.
Who is the best Shopify development agency UK stores can hire?
Not a question anyone answering it about themselves can answer honestly, so here is the test instead. Ask three agencies to open your store on a phone and tell you the three things slowing it down. The one that names specific apps and specific images, rather than offering a discovery workshop, is the one that has actually looked. That is a free way to judge, and it works on us too.
Do you do Shopify store development UK merchants can maintain themselves?
That is the intent. Merchandising, content and campaigns should be yours to change without a developer — that is most of what a store owner does day to day. Where we draw the line is structural theme changes, which are worth doing carefully because a broken theme is a closed shop. You get the theme, the admin, the documentation and a walkthrough of what is safe to edit.
Can you work with our existing theme, or do we need a new one?
Usually the existing one, and we will say so even though a rebuild is the bigger invoice. Premium themes are mostly well-built and the problems sit in what has been layered on top. A rebuild is warranted when the theme is several major versions behind, when it has been edited directly so updates are impossible, or when your merchandising has outgrown what it can express. The teardown says which situation you are in.
What about Shopify Plus and checkout customisation?
Below Plus the checkout is not editable and any agency promising otherwise is describing something that will break. On Plus you get checkout extensibility and scripts, which are genuinely useful for B2B rules and bespoke discounting. Whether the upgrade pays for itself is an arithmetic question about your order volume, and we would rather run that with you than sell you the work.
How do you handle VAT and delivery for British shoppers?
As configuration and content decisions, agreed at scoping rather than discovered at launch. Prices displaying inclusive of VAT, delivery options including click-and-collect where you offer it, the returns window stated where shoppers actually look, and payment methods people here recognise. None of it is hard; all of it is noticeable by its absence, which is precisely why an offshore studio should be asked about it directly.
