Why paid social is a different job
Nobody on Instagram was looking for you.
Search advertising captures demand that already exists. Paid social has to create it, which changes what the work is and what a retainer should actually be buying.
Creative volume is the whole lever
On Meta, audience targeting is largely automated now and the algorithm is better at it than any account manager. What remains under your control is what people see, and creative fatigues fast — the same video shown to the same audience for three weeks stops working, and no amount of bid adjustment recovers it. That means the honest unit of work is how many new concepts get produced and tested per month. An agency selling you optimisation without production is selling you the small half.
The reported numbers are the generous ones
Since the iOS tracking changes, what Ads Manager reports and what your accounting system records have diverged, and the platform's figure is the optimistic end. This is not a scandal, it is modelling — but an agency reporting purely from inside the platform is showing you their best available number rather than your actual one. The fix is to read platform data next to your real orders and treat the difference as a known unknown rather than pretending it is not there.
Boosting is not advertising
The boost button is a genuinely different product from a campaign built in Ads Manager: fewer objectives, less control over placement, and optimisation for engagement rather than for anything you can bank. It is not useless — for reach on an announcement it is fine — but a business running its paid social entirely through it is buying likes and calling it marketing. If your current arrangement is a monthly fee on top of boosted posts, that is worth examining.
What we can prove, and what we cannot
No published paid-social case studies. The write-ups are drafts and the decision has been to leave them there rather than activate stubs to make a portfolio look fuller, so this page will not show you a return-on-ad-spend figure with a brand attached. Pages that do are usually showing a screenshot with the account name removed, over a date range chosen after the fact.
What we offer instead
A free written teardown of your existing account, inside 48 hours, from read-only access. What it looks at: whether your pixel and conversions API are actually firing and deduplicating, how much creative you have run in the last ninety days and how much of it is variations of one idea, whether your campaign structure is fragmenting the algorithm's learning across too many ad sets, and what your platform-reported numbers look like against your real orders. That last comparison is the one most advertisers have never done and it is frequently the whole story.
How we charge
Flat monthly fee, agreed in advance, unaffected by your budget. Media paid directly to Meta from your own account — we do not invoice for spend or take a percentage of it. Creative production is included in the fee rather than being a separate line that quietly gets cut in a tight month, which matters more here than on any other channel for the reason above: on this platform, cutting creative production is cutting the campaign.
The honest bit about the fit
Paid social suits some businesses badly and no fee model fixes that. If you sell something with a long considered purchase cycle to a narrow professional audience, a Meta Ads agency in the UK or anywhere else is unlikely to beat search or direct outreach, and we would say so on the teardown call rather than after three months of spend. Where it works is visual products, impulse-adjacent price points, and brands with something to show. Furniture, fashion, food, fitness. If that is not you, ask us why we think it might still work before you believe it.
