Lands PK — a custom WordPress theme for an Islamabad real-estate firm
We rebuilt landspk.com, the website of an Islamabad real-estate firm, with a custom WordPress theme in three days. It has a new front end, AJAX property search and category-aware listing pages. The existing property data, taxonomies and URLs were kept exactly as they were, so nothing already indexed or shared broke.
The brief
An Islamabad property firm needed a site that looked like the listings it sells — without breaking the content, URLs and search links it already had.
Lands PK sells and rents commercial and residential property across Islamabad: plazas in F-7 and F-10 Markaz, offices in the Blue Area, furnished houses in F-6 and G-6, hotel plots and apartments on instalment. The kind of buyer who looks at a PKR 99 crore embassy-road residence judges the firm by its website before calling it, and the old site did not look like the properties it was selling.
The difficulty was that the old theme also held the business together. Its property and agent post types, five taxonomies (type, purpose, category, location, tags), a separate Meta Box field group for each property category, saved Customizer settings, menu locations and the query strings in shared search links all depended on it. Listings had been entered against those fields, and their URLs were already indexed and shared on WhatsApp. A normal redesign, with a new theme, new fields and re-entered listings, would have broken all of that at once.
So the brief was a new site that looked premium, searched well on a phone and turned visitors into enquiries, delivered as a drop-in replacement: same data, same URLs, same settings, live in days rather than weeks.
The build
We split the theme into two layers and changed only one of them. The data layer, meaning the post types, taxonomy slugs, meta keys, AJAX action names, search parameters and even the misspelled template file names, was frozen and kept exactly as it was. Existing content, indexed URLs, saved settings and shared search links therefore kept working the moment the new theme was switched on. The theme adds no rewrite rules.
On top of that we built a completely new front end, adapted from a licensed premium real-estate design: a gold and navy palette, Plus Jakarta Sans and Inter, Bootstrap 5 and Swiper galleries. Templates contain no business logic. PHP 8 helper functions turn each property into a ready-to-print view model, choosing the highlights that matter for its category from eight field sets (apartment, house, farmhouse, plot, shop, office, project and hotel), so a plot and a furnished house each lead with what a buyer of that kind of property checks first. The same pages still render if the Meta Box plugin is switched off, because the theme falls back to reading the post meta directly.
Search is the core of the site. Purpose tabs (sale, rent, instalment), property type, location, a price-range slider, bedrooms and amenities all filter over AJAX, with a featured-first sort and grid or list views. The price slider's maximum is cached and refreshed whenever a listing is saved. Visitors can save favourites and compare up to four properties side by side without creating an account.
Every listing page leads to a lead. The enquiry form is protected by a nonce, stores each enquiry in WordPress as its own record, and emails both the listing's agent and the admin. WhatsApp and Call Now buttons sit in the header and follow the visitor on mobile. The Lands PK team controls colours, contact details and home-page content from its own Customizer panel.
The limits of what this study can say: the new theme went live days ago, so we have no traffic or lead figures to compare, and none are claimed. The figures above are read from the theme and the live site.
